100% Sauvignon Blanc

Appellation:

100% California

100% of Blend was Stainless Steel Fermented

Alcohol:

Winemakers Notes

The grapes for the Black Oak Sauvignon Blanc hail from the Central Coast of California, more specifically the Paso Robles area.  The grapes were fermented entirely in Stainless Steel tanks to preserve freshness and its crisp acidity.  This blend never fails to impress.  The floral components and the tropical fruit tones make this a perfect wine for entertaining on a hot day.

Black Oak Merlot

Varietal %:

98% Merlot,
2% Syrah

Appellation:

100% California

Barrel Aged:

46% of Blend

Alcohol:

13.95%

Winemakers Notes

This wine was harvested from two Central Valley locations near Santa Barbara, California. It was fermented in Stainless Steel tanks, then a large portion was transferred to barrels for aging. This is a very fruit–forward wine. In fact it is so fruity that it imparts sweetness that is not present. With a fine tannin structure, this wine is consistently smooth, all the way through to the finish. Overall, Black Oak Merlot is a very popular wine that “over-delivers” on taste.

100% Vento Italy

Barrel Aged:

Veneto is a region in northeastern Italy that lies between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea.  The Black Oak 07 Pinot Grigio is a lovely blend of regional flavor. It is a fresh, dry wine with a lovely floral bouquet. A wine of medium-body and rich, layered flavors. We like this blend of Pinot Grigio and Garganega alone as an aperitif, or as a complement to shellfish, seafood, pasta or poultry.

Black Oak Pinot Noir

100% Italy

Winemakers Notes

Deep, ruby in color with a lovely bouquet of sweet spices, even a dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg.   The flavors are flowing with ripe black cherry, complex and clean layers, some plum tones meld into a smooth, velvety finish. This medium-bodied wine with its fresh acidity will compliment an array of meals. It has been suggested that Pinot Noir is a food-lovers wine as it pairs well with most seafood, poultry, pork, beef and lamb.  The Black Oak Apulia Pinot Noir is a rare wine and at such a great cost. Cheers

Black Oak Riesling

bo_riesling_bottle Wine-grapes

Varietal %:

100% Riesling

Appellation:

100% California

Barrel Aged:

100% of Blend was Stainless Steel Fermented

Alcohol:

12.8%

Winemakers Notes

The grapes for the Black Oak Riesling come from the warmer Central Valley of California and were picked near the end of August 2005. Fermented in entirely in Stainless Steel tanks, the fermentation was stopped early to preserve the natural grape sugars to impart sweetness. A very light, floral and yet complex wine. A great wine for a hot day. A very popular selection among Black Oak wine drinkers.

Black Oak Shiraz

bo_shiraz Wine-grapes

Varietal %:

95% Shiraz,
5% Mourvedre

Appellation:

100% California

Barrel Aged:

78% of Blend

Alcohol:

13.99%

Winemakers Notes

Shiraz grapes are usually the last grapes off the vine; in fact, they are left on the vine to full ripeness which usually shrivels the grapes. Black Oak Shiraz is aged mostly in American oak barrels, with the final blend enhanced with 5% Mourvedre. This wine has well balanced acidity. The flavors are dark and round, with hints of black pepper in the nose, and a lively fruit finish.

Winemakers Notes

The grapes for the Black Oak White Zinfandel are sourced all over the state of California, predominately from the Central Valley.  Fermented entirely in Stainless Steel tanks, the fermentation is stopped early to preserve the natural grape sugars that impart sweetness.  An easy-drinking wine, I like to call the ‘summer drink of choice’.  This wine has won multiple awards for its floral nose and fruity flavors.

Black Oak Zinfandel

Winemakers Notes

The grapes for the Black Oak Zinfandel were picked late during the harvest of 2004. The wine is field-blended with a small percentage of Petit Sirah for strength, color and added complexity. It is fermented in Stainless Steel tanks, then transferred to American Oak barrels for aging. This is a fantastic representation of the Zinfandel grape with concentrated fruit flavors and some black pepper spice tones, ending with a long, rich finish. This wine is sure to make many new fans.

Hop Station Chardonnay

lr_hop_station_bottle_2Wine-grapes

96% Russian River Valley, 4% Sonoma Coast

Winemaker Notes

A blockbuster Chardonnay on all fronts.  Fabulous grapes from the Alexander Valley floor, left to linger in the late summer sun.  Fermented entirely in Stainless Steel and then barrel aged for 9 months, where the wine underwent a partial secondary fermentation.  19% new French and American oak barrels.  A true Chardonnay-lovers delight, the wine is very well balanced, with a pleasing citrus acidity that nicely complements the buttery, toasted oak.  Creamy vanilla and crisp pear flavors intermingle on the pallate.  Long and luscious, yet finishes light and bright.  This will make a great summer wine all by itself and also quite versatile with many food pairings.

Wine-grapes

1221 Cabernet Cuvee

lr_cab_cuv_bottleWine-grapes
Alcohol: 14.41%
Titratable Acidity: 0.60 g/100mL
pH: 3.60
Residual Sugar: 0.04%
Malic Acid: 40 ppm

Winemakers Notes

Blend:  94.78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4.41% Petite Sirah, 081% Mourvedre

The grapes for the 1221 Cabernet Cuvée were picked from small vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties. Fermented and aged separately, all seven lots were left to develop their own complex characteristics. The wines were aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for an average of 16 months. The final blend was created six months prior to bottling to ensure the full integration of textures and flavors. The resulting wine is fruit dominant on the nose, ripe and brambly. The taste profiles include bold, vibrant, fleshy Cabernet Sauvignon characteristics. The wine is rich in texture, layered and full bodied. The oak tones are subtle yet continue throughout.

Considerable time was spent on perfecting the 1221 final blend. In addition to uniting the grapes from these two counties, the wine is also a combination of the refined French style wines and the bright fruit forward wines of the new world. What would seem to be a contradiction works surprisingly well in the case of the 1221.

1221 Fleur de Lys

1221_Fleur_bottle Wine-grapes

Alcohol: 14.7%
Titratable Acidity: 0.55 g/100mL
pH: 3.60
Residual Sugar: 0.605%
Malic Acid: 777 ppm

Winemakers Notes

Blend:  49% Sauvignon Blanc,  44% Chardonnay, 7% Viognier

56% Sonoma County, 44% Napa County

The grapes for the 1221 Fleur de Lys were picked mid-late September, from some of the most sought-after vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties. The Viognier portion of the blend came from two unique vineyards close to the banks of the Russian River. The fog wanders up the river from the ocean, keeping the grapes cool in the summer. This cooling effect delays the harvest giving the flavors and aromas time to fully mature. The result is some of the most intense aromatics a white wine can contain. The Chardonnay portion of the blend came from the Carneros region in Napa and the Napa Valley floor. This regional combination provides the sweet fruit and fantastic structure.

The taste profiles of the 1221 Fleur de Lys includes luscious ripe fruit flavors, a lively acidity and a harmonic finish that is intricate and refined. Full-bodied and rich in texture, Fleur de Lys will pair exceedingly well with a variety of dining selections. From a light luncheon to a swanky upscale dinner party, surprise your special guests with this unusual, refreshing offering that is 1221.
